Interview by: Kumar Bhattarai Photos by: Kesh
'Din
Pani Bityo' cutie young boy has grown-up into a most concerned married man in the town. But there's much more thing to count with this handsome hunk
than his profession aside, his concern for issues like "Education is the foundation of life' for instance. NSK, however, is a kid inside, now u may
call him naughty soul kid, but for me a perfect example of kid-like-big-dreamer, with causes and enough reasons"..
Welcome to babbaal
talkies. Nsk: Thank you verymuch.
So Nsk, how is the response of your second solo album "Mechi dekhi Mahakali'? Nsk:
Vey good. Anybody who heard the album, they made a good response & the album is also seen in the charts.
How do u see on the changing
face of Nepali music scenario, and where do u find hip-hop amongs? Nsk: It's radically different then and now. For instance, Hip-hop, it has
become a major part of the Nepali music industry. Now, it has been taken serious business. When we started it was not taken too seriously. Some media
houses wouldn't play our songs, wouldn't play our videos. But now all the struggles we went through has made this stream of music, the major.
Is there any particular reason beside your catchy nick name 'Da Naughty Soul-Kid'? Nsk: People that I'm close to, call me naughty, but I
don't find myself naughty. So, if I'm not naughty then it must be my soul. That's where the naughty soul came from & kid is what my parents call me at
home. That's Naughty-Soul- Kid ,"Nsk".
Much is seen and heard but define your attitude "hip-hop'? Nsk: Hip-hop,for me is, the
art of story telling. It is the music through which one tells about his/her enviroment, what is going around him/her and how he/she is feeling,
his/her life story. So,there has to be relevency between a person who is telling the story and his/her enviroment. So,talking about shooting other
people on the street is not relevent to nepal, so we should not sing about it. To sum-up, what hip-hop in America will be vast different than what it
is in Nepal because it's the art of story-telling. But there will be much similarity because there is freedom of speech in this medium of music.
It is whispered that hip-hop is voilating main stream nepli pop. Your take? Nsk: Right now,we are living in a globalized world, so
hip-hop industry working with Nepali music, will help to introduce the nepali music industry, to a wider range of audience, globally. Even those who
can't understand our languge will be grooving to our music, sense hip hop is a globle phenomenal & Nepali music has the power to capture the hearts of
the people. So, I don't think it is really violating the main stream pop. Every coin has two sides. So, there could be negative & positive sides to
everything & some people only take gangesters rap as hip-hop which is not true. They should see the wider range and power of this music.
Your musical fantasies. Nsk;The nature, is what inspire me to write, compose and sing
Whom do u listen in Nepali music
front? Nsk: I keep up-to-date with what is happening in the music industry. It helps me to grow musically, plus I'm in media, so I have to be
aware of what is happening in the music industry as well as what is happening around the world. I listen to all kinds of music because I appericiate
what is good, and that's what I feel that everybody should do, not be stereo-typical, just because u listen to hip-hop music, doesn't mean, you
shouldn't listen to other music that's good. You will be missing a very good part of life & what I like about hip-hop music is - it does not set
boundries. You can experiment and make anything you like in this kind of music because like I said different parts of the world has different story to
say. So, there's no boundries in this music Basically, I've to be music conscious.
It's said Nsk is a sweet heart, neither he screams
for money nor does he really want any but does more shows for charity, any specific reason. Nsk: When I see people happy, it makes me happy.
That is one of the reason I do a little bit of social work.(He chuckels and continues...) As for charity shows and concerts, I used to do a lot of it
but now a days I only do a selected charity shows. Because in the past we weren't sure if the charity we did, was going to the concerned places. Now,
I've my own team to make sure that what I do,goes to the right places.
Any great work doing these days? Nsk: First thing I'm
continueing my educational tour with the theme 'Education is the foundation of life'. So, I'm doing tours in different schools and collecting
stationaries& books, and donating them to different parts of the country, where the children are less fortunate and don't have the support for
education. So, with this tour we are planing to set up as many libraries as possible, with my team 'Nava dailo" and artists like Prasna Shakya, Mad
Zone, Rajiv Lohani, etc. That's the major thing I'm doing and I'm taking this tour all across Nepal. Then I'm working on merchandising like shirts,
lockets, t-shirts, etc.
How is life going at personal front, and how does it feel being labelled 'married'? Nsk:(laughs) It's
good, I'm still the same person. Still do the same things. Still dressed-up the same. The only thing is time management has become tighter. Being
married is something wonderous, something sounds responsible.
Which of the medium do u love the most? Radio(Image fm) or
singing'? Nsk: No doubt,SINGING. It's a free medium of expression whereas in Fm I've to be bound with the limitation.
So, what
is the way you project your show on F.M? Nsk: The way I talk, the music I play is all-Nsk style.

some funny Nsk personal takes) Tell your attitude.

Well when thinking about this video, it was really hard for me handling things myself but later got help and some ideas from s2s and Roshan, which made it lot easier for the video. The concept of this video is kind of simple but unique with the story, with some dance steps, with some VFX in the video.
